Summary:
Performs updates to USPS websites (intranet and public sites) as requested using TeamSite content management system.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Fields requests from USPS employees on Interactive Digital team, as well as other USPS employees on a case-by-case basis, for updating content on USPS websites.
• Carries out updates to existing pages and/or creates new pages within existing websites.
• Updates files within content management system TeamSite managed by USPS, including filling in fields and updating HTML code when necessary.
• Checks for accuracy of content and asks questions when something may not be clear in the presented instructions.
• Places content in staging for review by USPS employee.
• Makes any further updates or corrections requested.
• Posts content live and notifies appropriate USPS employee(s) when completed.
• Checks in and is available to make emergency postings after hours and on weekends on a pre-determined schedule.
• Also serves in a backup (as-needed) capacity for emergency postings after hours and on weekends on a pre-determined schedule.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years of professional service applicable to the role.
• A college degree is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated experience with website content management systems.
• Good customer service skills.
• Attention to detail sufficient to carry out tasks with minimal errors.
• Knowledge of communication best practices, including website design and usability.
• Thorough knowledge of HTML required.
• Knowledge of CSS and JavaScript desired, not required.
• Knowledge of 508 accessibility standards desired, not required.
• Experience managing or carrying out large projects desired.
• Organized, methodical, and has good time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other webmasters and developers and with USPS managers and employees in a fast-paced environment.
• Required to work some weekday evenings and weekends. See Duties and Responsibilities section above.
