Configuration Management Database Technician

Description

We are seeking a Journeyman-level Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Technician to support our IT operations team in Colorado Springs, CO. This flexible role is ideal for professionals with intermediate experience in configuration management, asset tracking, and CMDB tool usage. The technician will assist in maintaining accurate configuration data, supporting ITIL-aligned processes, and ensuring effective collaboration across technical teams.

Responsibilities:

• Incorporate, maintain and update CMDB to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with configuration management policies
• Support configuration management activities including identification, control, status accounting, and verification of configuration items (CIs)
• Utilize CMDB tools for data entry, validation, and reconciliation
• Conduct routine audits and data quality checks to identify discrepancies and coordinate resolution with IT stakeholders
• Assist with Change Management and Asset Management processes by ensuring CI relationships and dependencies are documented
• Generate basic reports and dashboards to support decision-making and operational efficiency
• Contribute to the documentation and refinement o f CMDB procedures

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelors with 2 + years of experience working with CMDB tools in enterprise or government IT environments (examples could include: Ivanti Neurons for Discovery, ServiceNow CMDB, ManageEngine, ServiceDesk Plus, Device 42, BMC Helix or SolarWinds Service Desk, etc.). Additional years of experience can be used in lieu of a degree
• Active Secret clearance
• ITIL 4, especially Configuration, Change, and Asset Management familiarity/experience
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large data sets accurately
• Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data reconciliation and reporting
• CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, or equivalent certifications
• Experience in federal or DoD environments is strongly desired
• TS/SCI clearance desired

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience as Configuration Analyst or Asset Management Technician
• Exposure to CMDB tool implementation or optimization projects
• Understanding federal IT compliance standards and documentation best practices
• Experience with large, complex organizations with diverse IT environments
• Experience with three key components of effective configuration management - Configuration, Changes and Compliance

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
