Responsibilities
• Serve as technical lead for a small team of data scientists in the execution of an annual quantitative risk assessment for CBRNE terrorism attacks against the U.S. using existing software models and architecture.
• Determine improvements and maintenance activities to improve the efficiency of the existing risk execution system/software.
• Maintain detailed internal-facing documentation on the execution process and high-level client-facing documentation for the risk analysis/results.
• Present risk results and modeling/data updates on an annual basis to clients and other external stakeholders.
• Monitor task completion and communicate progress to the client on weekly teleconferences.
• Write annual reports of methods used and results obtained.
Key Qualifications
• Education reflecting on of the following:
o Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience, Master's with 2+ years of experience, or Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or other scientific field.
• Strong understanding of higher-level mathematics (e.g., calculus, differential equations, linear algebra).
• At least one year of experience with project management or task leadership with proven ability to meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills of scientific, technical data to non-technical and semi-technical audiences.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 10%.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 3 years of experience in modeling & simulation, statistical analysis, quantitative risk assessment, data science, systems engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of advanced statistics and/or probability.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Experience with data visualization techniques.
• Experience in modeling & simulation on a government program.
• Experience using object-oriented programming in C++, C#, Java, or similar to develop mathematical models.
• Experience with advanced data analysis techniques, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, or natural language processing.
• A U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD clearance.
