Overview

Hepburn and Sons LLC is seeking a Close In Weapons System (CIWS) (Phalanx) Technician with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for shipboard CIWS Systems. The work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on the CIWS System
  • Provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants
  • Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing the SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 or more years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) at the organizational and/or intermediate level using ordnance publications, circuit diagrams, and other appropriate documentation to include the signal processor, signal source, improved mixer, single-board video tracker, and digital resolvers
  • PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment
