ECS is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support cutting-edge technology for law enforcement and scientific organizations. The Network Engineer will monitor, maintain, and respond to events on network communications systems.
We are seeking a creative problem solver, who enjoys the challenge of tackling technical tasks and problems with little oversight, enabling the team to release their application optimally, and connecting dots to think at the broader, solution level. A strong desire and aptitude for learning is a must with a proven ability to adapt and drive change - our solution is rapidly evolving, along with new requirements, technologies, and an evolving threat landscape. Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues involving various protocols, topologies, networking hardware, etc.
- Utilize knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals to monitor and report status of network infrastructure
- Apply technical and business experience and understanding to improve processes and procedures for maintaining network infrastructure.
- Work independently and collectively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.
- Support Continuity of Operations (COOP) operations as needed.
- Responsible for design, deployment, testing, certification, patching, backups, and addressing interoperability issues for all features, components, and application dependencies. To include switches, firewalls, load balancers, software defined networking, private cloud requirements, etc.
- Document networking configurations, diagrams, and rack layouts.
- Examine network vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate them ensuring compliance with NIST Security requirements.
- US citizenship required per contract and active Top-Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline. Three years additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this level.
- Experience engineering hardware and network designs for large-scale enterprise applications.
- Experience with Cisco required.
Candidates will benefit from having these skills, experience and understanding:
- Holds valid CompTia Net+, Cisco Certified Networking Associate, or Cisco Certified Networking Professional certifications
- Experience delivering excellence in Federal Government (preferably the Department of Justic) cyber security and working within DOJ FBI, practices, standards, processes and policies.
- Interest in new technologies and the ability to adapt to those new technologies.
