Alpha Omega is looking for a Senior System Administrator to support one of our federal clients, who will be responsible for maintaining and administering the infrastructure that supports over 2,000 users across the United States. This position is responsible for maintaining the functionality, security, and up time of critical technology systems, such as wireless networks, virtual machines and storage infrastructure, and communication systems. The Senior System Administrator installs hardware and software and participates in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of organization.

Salary and Benefit Information:
The likely salary range for this position is $67,508.50- $155,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.

Alpha Omega is looking for a Senior System Administrator to support one of our federal clients, who will be responsible for maintaining and administering the infrastructure that supports over 2,000 users across the United States. This position is responsible for maintaining the functionality, security, and up time of critical technology systems, such as wireless networks, virtual machines and storage infrastructure, and communication systems. The Senior System Administrator installs hardware and software and participates in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages network operations, supports the underlying physical infrastructure of the client's DIN
- Implements, manages, and monitors wired, wireless, and remote access, DIN network-as-a-service, as well as the various components of network infrastructure including switching, circuits, routers, firewalls, servers, personnel, equipment, and infrastructure software, among others.
- Ensures compliance with government security requirements, incorporating best practices from the NIST's Cybersecurity Framework
- Leads workstreams on select projects
- Install, upgrade, and maintain the functionality of the Systems
- Administer multiple virtual machines running critical applications
- Coordinate system backups, data archiving, and disaster recovery planning
- Maintain the functionality, security, and uptime of critical technology systems such as wireless networks, virtual machine and storage infrastructure, across on Prem and cloud networks
- Provide Tier III support to our development users as needed to troubleshoot and manage applications
- Regularly improve the security posture of enterprise systems and network infrastructure
- Document all aspects of the enterprise systems and network infrastructure and key processes related to its operation and maintenance.
- Monitor changes to the Windows baseline references and work with ISSO and the other admins to review and update baselines regularly.
- Support peer Systems Administrators on other projects and tasks while balancing regular duties
- Assist with the scanning and patching of the infrastructure (servers, workstations, etc)
- Implement and support new applications and technologies entering the infrastructure
- Provide prompt and courteous customer support to end users and troubleshooting activities
- Record and respond to technical incidents and requests using the Service Desk ticketing system while adhering to performance metrics
- Assisting with new technology investigations, coordinating implementations and support of new enterprise applications and technologies entering the infrastructure, writing and updating service and procedural documentation, proposing and implementing process improvements, and working collaboratively with peer Systems Administrators and support teams.
- May also be assigned other responsibilities such as planning, equipment staging, etc. installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements
- Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
- Strong knowledge of various server platforms, and how to secure (harden), scale and configure each for reliability and automation.
- Support the platforms team that builds and administers the on-prem servers (e.g., Exchange/AD), desktops (Windows, Mobile), GovCloud infrastructure, and agency specific WAN/LAN and VLANs.
- Manage deliverables, SLAs and SLOs towards building and a running best-in-class automated infrastructure platform and services using DevOps principles, global deployment, multiple cloud-provided IaaS, private virtualized resources, and dedicated on-premises equipment.
- Timely response to priority issues impacting service levels.
- Adaptable. The role requires a willingness to take on tasks outside of a narrowly defined role, and ideally a desire to be multi-skilled.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
Experience/Skills:
- 8 years' experience or more performing systems and network administration tasks with a demonstrated technical breadth or depth in network switching and routing, network services (DNS, DHCP, SNMP), wireless networking, network and systems security, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VM and storage infrastructure, and cloud experience
- 5 years' experience building, migrating, integrating, and enhancing virtual servers using VMware.
- 5 years deploying new Windows systems following the organization established baseline. Managing existing windows systems (Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2).
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and operation of network devices such as clients, servers, routers, switches, and video teleconference systems.
- Demonstrated use of Group policies to secure the Active Directory environment to meet all the security compliance requirements. Secure windows servers using well known established guidelines such as NIST, DISA, CIS and workstations Operating systems using USGCB guidelines through GPOs.
- Hands on experience managing a windows Network using SCCM, ECMO, WSUS McAfee E-Policy Orchestrator and End Point encryption is strongly recommended. Experience in securing a windows network using group policies in a single forest, multiple domains, multiple sites Active Directory infrastructure.
- Full-lifecycle Windows administration experience (design, build, maintain, upgrade, migrate)
- Must be able to work well in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment.
- Must have strong written and documentation skills to maintain and/or update and SOPs and other technical documentation as well as the ability to communicate with executive level clients.
Required Certification(s):
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) in server technology (i.e., windows server and/or Active Directory)
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) or higher
Desired Certification(s):
