Description

SAIC is seeking a Chemical Engineer to assist in multiple areas of customer support including chemical, material, and rubber knowledge and experience.

This is a 100% work from home position.

Job Duties:
  • Designs and initiates processes for the manufacturing of chemicals and related products such as carbon sequestration, natural gas utilization, gasoline, plastics, hydrogen production and synthetics. Performs strategic planning, technology road mapping, engineering evaluations and technical assessments. May conduct research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes, perform tests throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over variables, including temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure. This also includes impact analysis for residential/agriculture and building re-use scenarios. Carry out human health impact analysis of workers and develop safety procedures to be employed by workers operating equipment or working in close proximity to on-going chemical reactions.
  • Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies, which affect subordinate organization(s).
  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
  • Represents organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors and (9) nine years of relevant experience; Masters degree and (7) seven years of relevant experience; 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Security Clearance:
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Required Skills:
  • Rubber Mill experience and certifications
  • Must have good communication skills, interface well with others
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • High attention to detail and quality
  • Able to plan and execute daily and weekly scheduled tasks
  • Able to keep work area clean and organized
  • Excellent team player with organizational and time management skills
  • Physical demands: While performing duties of this job, an employee is typically required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, lift hand tools approx. 1-15 lbs. in weight to complete machine assembly, parts up to 50 lbs. Repetition with activity.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
