General Summary
The Senior Director of Estimating provides executive-level estimating leadership, driving technical and strategic direction for the estimating function. This position requires someone with strong leadership skills to build and manage estimating teams and interface with internal and external stakeholders, including government auditors and corporate executives. The role will oversee the development of compliant estimates that support sales and operations across all Mission Solutions business groups. This position plays a vital role in ensuring estimates align with approved business systems, company practices, and industry regulations.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage estimating activities to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to established practices
Develop compliant estimates in accordance with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)-approved Estimating Business System, company standards, and applicable company estimating practices
Ensure compliance with FAR 15-2 requirements for cost-reimbursable change proposals
Oversee development and pricing strategies for various estimating types, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), Services, FAR 15.2 changes, Independent Cost Estimates for procurement cost/price analysis, labor rate, overhead rate, and project management office estimates.
Provide technical direction on estimating methods, systems, and historical data development
Manage estimating resources to deliver consistent, high-quality estimates for mega-sized projects
Mentor less experienced estimators and promote innovation, creativity, and problem-solving
Collaborate with business unit leadership to support proposal development and cost volume preparation
Develop accurate postmortem reports to capture benchmarking data and improve future estimating practices.
Qualifications
15+ years’ experience with estimating and managing a team of all levels.
Extensive experience with FAR, DEAR, and DFAR government estimating business system requirements
Demonstrated success in leading estimating teams and developing pricing strategies
Strong background in building and organizing teams to support estimating efforts
Experience working with US Government auditors, clients, and executive leadership
Expertise in proposal development and cost volume preparation
Experience developing Independent Cost Estimates for procurement cost/price analysis is preferred.
Strong track record in mentoring team members and driving innovation is preferred.
