Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is hiring a Principal Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida.
Responsibilities may include
- Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) of air vehicle systems
- Develop control laws to meet air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments.
- Perform flying qualities analysis.
- Support non-linear and hardware-in-the-loop lab testing.
- Perform low level unit testing for software verification.
Basic Qualifications
- Principal Engineer level: Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) and 3 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 1 year of relevant engineering and/or lab experience
- Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
- Knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft dynamics
- Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems
- Experience analyzing non-linear simulations of aircraft closed-loop responses
- Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering with controls concentration.
- Experience using Simulink Test to perform software unit testing.
- Experience using Model Composer to create software architecture
- Experience using Simulink to model dynamic systems.
- Experience using Model Based System Engineering tools
- Familiarity with programming (C/C++, Python)
- Experience with MIL-STD-1797B
- Experience with AS94900 or MIL-STD-9490
- Experience for Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
