The Simulation Developer will support the development and maintenance of simulations for military training and analysis on the MS&A team at the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL). This role involves coding, modeling, integration, testing, and documentation of simulation components.
- Writing, testing, and debugging code for simulation models and applications
- Collaborating with senior developers and simulation architects to understand project requirements and design specifications
- Implementing features and enhancements based on user feedback and project needs
- Developing and refining simulation models to replicate real-world scenarios
- Creating and managing simulation assets, including entities, behaviors, and interactions
- Conducting simulations to test various scenarios and collect data for analysis
- Integrating simulation components with other systems and tools
- Ensuring compatibility and interoperability between different simulation platforms
- Collaborating with other team members to integrate simulation outputs into training exercises and analysis workflows
- Performing unit testing, integration testing, and validation of simulation models
- Identifying and reporting bugs or issues, and working with the team to resolve them
- Validating simulation outputs against real-world data and user requirements
- Documenting simulation code, models, and processes
- Creating user manuals, technical documentation, and other materials to support simulation usage and maintenance
- Maintaining project documentation and updating as needed
- Staying updated on new simulation technologies, tools, and methodologies
- Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge
- Contributing to team knowledge sharing and best practices

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in simulation development or related fields
- Proficient in programming languages commonly used in simulation development (e.g., C++, Python, Java)
- Familiarity with simulation frameworks and tools (e.g., NetLogo, VBS3, AFSIM, DIS, NGTS, ASCOT)
- Understanding of simulation principles, including discrete event simulation, agent-based modeling, and system dynamics
- Basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software development methodologies
- Familiarity with military operations and terminology is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills to understand and convey complex technical information
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
