GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Operations Manager position is responsible for management of aerospace materials characterization lab. The Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence across three materials testing laboratories.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Significant management role. Team currently consists of approximately 35 employees. Operations Manager will have 5 direct reports that manage smaller teams in the labs, and the Operations Manager will have the authority to continue to build and alter the team as needed to yield the best results for the business.

- Manage laboratory test operations and support functions.
- Define and execute strategic plan for the labs.
- Implement process improvements to yield higher efficiency while maintaining or improving data quality.
- Work with Engineering teams to meet schedule requirements of materials characterization projects.
- Improve organization of testing facilities to create a safer and more efficient work environment.
- Hire new technicians to increase the capacity of the labs.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Experience and Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Planning and Organization - Systematically identifies issues to be addressed and plans a course of action for self and others to ensure the accomplishment of specific objectives.
- Execution - Works effectively with team to take projects through to completion.
- Teamwork - able to communicate effectively with stake holders to build consensus and ensure project completion.
- Attention to detail - Utilizes established monitoring system, records data accurately and in a timely manner, and ensures accuracy of data.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance
- Experience managing teams.
- 3 years experience in operations management, quality, or industrial engineering.
- Educational background in engineering discipline or operations management.
