Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Stored Procedures DBA with expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL to support database development, optimization, and cloud integration. This role focuses on writing, managing, and optimizing stored procedures, ensuring seamless data migration and synchronization between on-prem and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database performance tuning, PL/SQL, and cloud-based database solutions.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain stored procedures in Oracle (PL/SQL) and PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL).
- Design and implement efficient database structures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning techniques.
- Support data migration and replication efforts between on-prem databases and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database interactions and query performance.
Implement and maintain database security best practices, including access controls and encryption.
- Optimize ETL processes for efficient data movement to cloud platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
- Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-integrated databases.
- Work closely with cloud engineers to integrate database solutions into cloud-based applications.
- Document database architectures, stored procedures, and performance tuning best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on stored procedures in Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Strong expertise in PL/SQL (Oracle) and PL/pgSQL (PostgreSQL) for stored procedure development.
- Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/Oracle, Google Cloud SQL).
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Strong knowledge of database replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience integrating on-prem databases with cloud environments.
- Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and optimize query performance.
- Strong scripting skills for automation (Python, Bash, or SQL scripting).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with development and cloud teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle GoldenGate or AWS DMS for database replication.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines for cloud database deployments.
- Certifications such as Oracle Certified DBA, AWS Certified Database Specialty, or PostgreSQL Professional Certification
- Experience working in federal or highly regulated environments.
