Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer / Navigation Specialist for the USV Operations and Sustainment program supporting Astrion Navy Division.

JOB DETAILS
LOCATION: San Diego, California
JOB STATUS: Full-Time
TRAVEL:Some travel may be required, embarked at sea overnight
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have or be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- CITIZENSHIP: Current U.S. Citizenship Required.
- CERTIFICATIONS: Qualification as US Navy Navigator, Assistant Navigator, OOD, Quartermaster, Air Crew or similar.
- EDUCATION: College degree (BA or BS) preferred. AA or high school diploma considered for exceptionally experienced candidates.
- 5+ years' experience with at-sea operations in a position of responsibility (US Navy Navigator, Officer of the Deck, Senior Quartermaster, etc. or similar in the maritime industry).
- Demonstrated leadership of teams during at-sea operations.
- Physical ability to operate from small boats and ships.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Experience with electronic navigation systems such as ECS, ECDIS, ECDIS-N, VMS, Rose point ECS, or Coastal Explorer.
- Experience submitting MOVEREPs and calculating Planned of Intended Movement (PIM).
- Experience maintaining inventories.
- Experience testing maritime systems at sea.
- Experience developing and executing formal test plans.
- Military or research vessel community experience.
- USCG Maritime license as master, mate or AB is a differentiating factor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop navigation plans and reference material for large Unmanned Surface Vessels
- Draft MOVEREPs and related mission planning documentation
- Maintain and update chart files for USV operations
- Draft test documentation to support test and development objectives for USV operations
- Maintain post-test documentation and prepare test analysis reports and presentations as directed
- Maintain and update department inventories and procedural documentation
- Plan and execute testing of maritime unmanned vehicles and associated payloads
- Operate mission systems for unmanned vehicles
- Operate and maintain small boats
SALARY RANGE: Estimated $75,000 - $90,000 USD annually*
