Overview

TECHNICAL WRITER/EDITOR: (EDOS-2025-22533):

Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer/Editor to join our team at NSWCD Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Research approved technical data and technical data products to develop Branch Level delivery documentation utilizing a variety of publishing software and electronic media systems. (Adobe PDF, Corel Draw, MS Office);
  • Write, edit and proofread technical data for use in documents such as Technical/Letter Data Packages, Mission Readiness Assessments, and Combat System Certification Panel Briefing materials, manuals, procedures and specifications.
  • Develop templates for new publications driving consistency throughout the various manuals and documents.
  • Technical editing, document change management, to ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and Navy specifications.
  • Understand and apply technical writing principals, concepts, practices and standards
  • Edit presentations utilizing Microsoft Power Point
  • Develop and revise existing corporate (Branch) documentation


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. BA in English or Communications highly preferred
  • Two plus (2+) years relevent experience
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team


Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
