Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to support our Armament Systems Business Unit in our Plymouth, MN offices
Description of Position
The manager of the Product Development Complex (PDC) oversees a team of 40+ members working in various labs and production areas, including rapid prototyping, testing, and manufacturing. The role involves managing budgets, equipment, processes, training, and long-term planning. Reporting to the director of system engineering, the manager is supported by first and second-level managers and is responsible for the overall functioning and development of the complex.

Minimum Qualifications:
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Description of Position

Responsibilities of Position
- Effectively lead a diverse team of managers, engineers, and technicians in a dynamic product development environment.
- Drive Team technical excellence within the PDC.
- Balance PDC group workload and staffing requirements to meet current and future program needs.
- Coach direct reports in the areas of career development, performance, and teamwork. Provide training and development opportunities. Provide continual feedback and hold mid-year and end-of-year performance communications.
- Have experience with fast paced agile team engagement on multiple programs.
- Maintain a "learning organization" where each team member is expected to teach and learn.
- Plan, execute and manage department budget
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree plus 9 years of experience, or Master's degree plus 7 years of experience, or a PhD plus 4 years of experience.
- Bachelor's of Science in Engineering discipline is highly desired.
- 6 years of Engineering experience in both product development and production environments.
- Previous Team management and/or Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership experience.
- Must be a US Citizen and able to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Excellent communication skills
- Production/Development of defense products including technical, manufacturing, cost, and schedule aspects.
- Experience working with customer engineering (U S Government), vendors and subcontractors.
- Proven track record of working with individuals, as well as teams, at various levels and disciplines.
- Department team leadership, supervisory, and/or people management experience.
