Plateau Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program/Project Manager to support the Department of Energy (DOE) in a critical role that involves managing large-scale IT projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading, organizing, directing, and controlling the overall activities of IT projects, ensuring their success while adhering to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of information technology project management.

Plateau Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program/Project Manager to support the Department of Energy (DOE) in a critical role that involves managing large-scale IT projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading, organizing, directing, and controlling the overall activities of IT projects, ensuring their success while adhering to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of information technology project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage large-scale IT projects, ensuring alignment with the DOE's objectives, timelines, and requirements.
- Plan, organize, and direct project activities including project management, technical work, requirements traceability, quality management, schedule, costs, and risk management.
- Oversee earned value management systems to monitor project performance, ensuring cost and schedule adherence.
- Manage the lifecycle of IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring all deliverables meet the required specifications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including risk assessments, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
- Provide strategic support for enterprise IT Portfolio Management, assisting with planning and lifecycle management activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful integration of new technologies and IT systems.
- Mentor and guide project teams to meet objectives and develop professional growth.
- Track and report on project progress, providing updates and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with DOE policies, standards, and guidelines.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Clearance: Must have DOE Q Clearance or Top Secret Clearance.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Information Technology or a related field.
- Certifications: GIAC Certified Project Manager (GCPM) or equivalent certification is required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in information technology, with at least 8 years of experience specifically managing IT contract performance.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing IT projects, including planning, scheduling, and delivering technical work.
- Proven experience in managing project schedules, costs, and risk management.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with earned value management systems (EVMS)
- Experience supporting enterprise IT Portfolio Management and lifecycle planning activities.
- Advanced understanding of DOE-specific systems, protocols, and policies.
- Experience working in government contracting and/or federal IT projects.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- EVM Tools experience with Primavera, Deltek Cobra, or similar tool
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
