Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of our databases, ensuring they meet business requirements and perform optimally.
You would be part of a team that is designing, implementing, and maintaining complex cloud-based systems within our Government customer's existing infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of scalable and reliable cloud solutions.
• Database Integrity and Security: Maintain the integrity, security, and availability of databases.
• Disaster Recovery: Perform disaster recovery planning and execution to safeguard data.
• Performance Analysis and Tuning: Conduct performance analysis and tuning to optimize database performance.
• Index Maintenance: Perform index maintenance and monitor data to ensure efficient database operations.
• Policy Development: Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure database security and integrity.
• Product Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend database management system products.
• Lifecycle Activities: Perform database and software lifecycle activities to ensure high system performance and availability.
• DBMS Administration: Administer SQL Services databases, including Oracle, PostGRES, and SQLServers.
• Data Organization: Organize and format data for efficient query and storage processes.
• Reports to leadership and stakeholders on database metrics, processes and concerns.
• Collaborates with software developers, network engineers, and Government leads to ensure seamless integration of systems.
• Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for all integration processes and systems.
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex integration issues in a timely manner.
• Stays up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practices to continuously improve processes.
• Mentors and provides guidance to junior engineers on the team.
• Analyzes existing systems and infrastructure to identify upgrade needs.
• Assesses a project's database technology infrastructure and explores options for moving legacy and new applications.
• Incorporates security management and privacy requirements into database management.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in database administration and management.
• Strong understanding of database security and integrity principles.
• Expertise in disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Proficiency in performance analysis and tuning.
• Experience with index maintenance and data monitoring.
• Ability to develop and implement database policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of various database management systems (e.g., Oracle, PostGRES, SQLServers).
• Strong organizational and data formatting skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Recognized Industry Leader in their area of Expertise.
• 8 years of experience in database management, with a strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and subsystem integration.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and data management principles.
• Excellent planning, problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to develop & use exceptionally complex concepts & processes that span multiple organizations and disciplines.
• Leads and mentors multiple Junior/Mid-level personnel.
• Evaluates & recommends new technology & processes based upon cost, risk, mission.
Clearance Required: TS/SCI with CI Poly (or obtainable CI Poly)
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field, or Senior level work experience in the related labor category.
Minimum Years of Experience: 8-12 Senior level work experience in the related labor category.
Required Certifications: Applicable software/hardware /management training & certifications.
