Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Senior Software Systems Developer to join its flagship contract to support an existing task order. The ideal candidate will be experienced with DevOps tools/technologies, working in a Linux environment, databases such as MySQL/MariaDB, and coding in Python, PHP, HTML, and JavaScript. The candidate will report to the Project Manager and provide weekly reports on project status/issues/concerns and mitigation strategies.

• Refactored and updated existing Python, PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, HTML/CSS, and database code per new business requirements
• Maintain a public website by fixing bugs and implementing new features.
• Modify the database to capture new data elements and adjust to UI changes
• Adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and industry best practices to effectively analyze, develop, unit test, peer review, and deploy all new/modified code.
• Collaborate with customers to address all identified defects/issues found during Quality Control and User Acceptance Testing
• Collaborate with other developers to troubleshoot/resolve any issues identified by users/customers
• Provide the Task Lead and Program Manager with weekly updates on project status/issues/risks.

Required Skills & Experience

• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ Years of professional experience.
• Expert in Python with an understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, CSS, and JSON
• Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases with an understanding of tables, joins, stored procedures, transactions, database schemas, and logging
• Knowledgeable about Linux, cloud computing, containers, and DevOps processes
• Strong unit test and debugging skills
• Proficient understanding of Git and code versioning tools

• MariaDB
• GIS
• Leaflet mapping library
• Experience with Docker Containerization.

Required Technical/Business Tools Experience:

• IDE: MS Visual Studio / Visual Studio Code / Eclipse
• Linux OS

Preferred Technical/Business Tools Experience:

• MS Office: Word, Excel
