PE Systems is seeking a Senior Compensation & Benefits Specialist in Fairfax, VA. Candidate will manage and optimize our total rewards programs, including employee benefits, compensation structures, and compliance strategies. This role will play a critical part in ensuring competitive, cost-effective, and compliant benefits and compensation programs for a growing government contracting company with 400+ employees. The ideal candidate has expertise in UKG, extensive experience in benefits administration and compensation management, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position is estimated between $120 - 145K. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. GENERAL FUNCTION:
- Oversee and manage employee benefits programs, including life and health insurance, disability, profit-sharing, retirement plans (401k), and wellness initiatives.
- Lead annual open enrollment, ensuring smooth execution, effective employee communication, and system updates.
- Collaborate with benefits providers and brokers to negotiate cost-effective and competitive plans based on employee feedback, cost analysis, and industry trends.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of benefits invoices against active enrollments, ensuring accuracy.
- Coordinate with Payroll to verify accurate and timely employee premium deductions.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits.
- Audit 401(k) contributions and company matches; manage the annual 401(k) audit and ensure timely filing of Form 5500.
- Approve and process COBRA enrollments and qualifying life events.
Compensation Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain compensation structures, including salary bands, incentive programs, and merit-based pay strategies.
- Conduct job evaluations and market analysis to benchmark salaries and benefits, making recommendations to maintain competitive pay practices.
- Oversee the annual compensation review process, ensuring fair and strategic salary adjustments aligned with performance outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with FLSA classifications and other compensation-related laws.
- Manage and refine bonus, incentive, and merit-based pay programs. Create and oversee an annual salary action plan, ensuring equitable and strategic salary adjustments.
Strategy & Compliance
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to enhance compensation and benefits strategies.
- Conduct periodic audits of compensation and benefits programs to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Partner with HR leadership to develop and execute long-term compensation and benefits strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Prepare reports for senior leadership, highlighting compensation trends, risks, and recommendations.
Employee Communication & Engagement
- Develop and implement communication strategies to educate employees on total rewards, including compensation structures, benefits programs, and performance-based pay.
- Conduct training sessions for managers on compensation policies, salary planning, and benefits enrollment.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding compensation and benefits decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in compensation and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of compensation principles, benefits administration, and relevant labor laws.
- Experience in job evaluation, salary surveys, and market benchmarking.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and compensation analysis tools, knowledge of UKG HRIS is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present data and recommendations effectively.
- Certification in Compensation (CCP) or Benefits (CEBS) is preferred.
