Our team is growing and we seek multiple highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist/Data Engineers to join our Accelerating Data and Artificial Intelligence (ADA), Analytic Product Teams (APT), or Incident Response (IR) team.

At the center of new efforts in digital modernization for the United States military, this mission focused work supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (OSD CDAO) will create value by operationalizing data and AI. The impact and scope of mission results will optimize decision-making and boost organization efficiency.

These teams are embedded within Combatant Commands (CCMDs), the Joint Staff, and Principal Staff Assistants (PSAs) to drive data-driven decision-making across the Department of Defense (DoD). This role will contribute to critical initiatives involving data and pipeline management, analytic/AI engineering and integration, and the acceleration of emerging AI technologies.

This role requires a strong understanding and application of product management, data modeling, ETL processing, and AI/ML techniques.

The annual base salary range for this role is $100,000-$215,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, implement, and enhance enterprise data models and standards, including data flow mapping and analysis for improved data delivery
- Identify, document, and ensure alignment of data practices with mission requirements.
- Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to derive data insights and address mission needs.
- Assist in the discovery, definition, scoping, development, testing, and integration of government-developed AI/ML solutions into workflows, applications, and systems.
- Contribute to DoD AI Technology roadmaps and maintain software architecture maps.
- Develop and manage processes to transform raw structured and unstructured data, ensuring data accessibility, security, and usability.
- Create and maintain data dashboards and process flow diagrams for data transformation processes.
- Comply with all security regulations and procedures, including proper handling of classified materials up to TS/SCI SAP/SAR level.
- Collaborate with Combatant Commands (CCMDs), the Joint Staff, PSAs, and CDAO Central HQ Team. Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of data engineering best practices and data science methodologies
- Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis and visualization required
- Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms and techniques
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Scala, SQL
- Experience working within coding environments such as Databricks and Jupyter
- Experience developing and deploying software solutions within cloud such as AWS or Azure
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and in a team environment
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Tableau and Qlik experience a plus
- Experience with Maven Smart Systems and Apache Spark is a plus
- Experience with DevSecOps and modern web development frameworks is a plus

Qualifications:
- US Citizenship with active Secret/ Top Secret clearance.
- BS Degree or Advanced Degree in a STEM field, Computer Science, Data Science or related.
- Strong understanding of DoD architecture frameworks (DoDAF, DM2, UAF).
- Professional experience in data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
- Professional experience applying AI/ML techniques to business operations, including natural language processing, forecasting, and classification.
- Proven experience in applying data science methods to wrangle, explore, transform, and analyze data to generate meaningful business insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
