Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbent must perform journeyman level skilled maintenance work in mechanical trade area by performing maintenance and repairs of doors, gates, drop arms and delta barriers within the Embassy compound and other Embassy properties.

Incumbent must be able to perform journeyman level work as a welder.

Incumbent performs a wide range of monitoring and maintenance functions during their shift, to include troubleshooting problems, utilizing basic test equipment and meters as necessary; making minor and uncomplicated repairs; and providing detailed verbal/written reports on problems to shop supervisors. Incumbent is expected to work alone on rotating shifts (all days and all shifts).

Work is performed in accordance with established safety practices and regulations for all the trades.

Monitoring & Maintenance Functions (55%)

Bi-weekly: Inspect all non-ESC doors, gates, turnstiles drop bars and delta barriers on a regular basis. Responds to all breakdowns and takes appropriate actions. Perform maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting doors and related mechanical and electromechanical devices.

Weekly: Verify proper gate operation and perform repairs as needed. Provide a report to the Facility Supervisor detailing duties performed, problems encountered, and proposed solutions.

As Needed: troubleshooting problems, utilizing basic test equipment and meters, providing detailed verbal/written report on problems, assisting with new electrical and electromechanical installations.

All work must be performed in accordance with established safety practices and regulations.

Repair Functions (45%)

Disassembles, repairs, and replaces worn or damaged parts. Fabricates new parts when replacement parts are not available using metal-working equipment, welding equipment and hand tools.

Prepares the list of materials, tools and equipment required for work assignments.

Coordinates with Facility Management Specialist on procurement needed regarding materials, tools and spare parts.

Drives Government vehicles including forklifts to transport equipment, tools, and materials as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The position is not supervisory. The contractor will work with minimal supervision provided by USG direct-hire personnel assigned to the FAC.

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older

Completed journeyman training welding.

Have five years documented experience as a journeyman in welding, plus semi-skilled experience in a secondary trade.

Know how to read electrical, plumbing, and mechanical schematics and drawings.

Possess basic knowledge of English grammar and computers and be able to write reports.

Be physically qualified to perform physical labor and lift 50 pounds without assistance.

Must have valid driver's license and forklift certification.
