Position Overview:

SHR Consulting Group is seeking Network Security Engineer to lead cybersecurity initiatives, focusing on secure network design, implementation, and optimization. This role involves designing and managing F5, Palo Alto, Gigamon, and Cisco solutions while ensuring adherence to Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with network security technologies, incident response, policy compliance, and risk mitigation strategies in DoD environments.

Job Responsibilities:

Network Security Design & Implementation
  • Architect and deploy secure network infrastructures using:
    • F5 Load Balancers (LTM, ASM, or APM).
    • Palo Alto Firewalls (including advanced features such as threat prevention and SSL inspection).
    • Gigamon traffic visibility solutions.
    • Cisco Networking Equipment (routers, switches, Nexus platforms).
  • Implement advanced security features and integrate solutions across platforms.

Maintenance & Optimization
  • Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and optimization of F5, Palo Alto, Gigamon, and Cisco platforms.
  • Analyze network traffic patterns to identify and mitigate security risks.

Incident Response & Troubleshooting
  • Respond promptly to network and security incidents and conduct in-depth investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend long-term security solutions.

Policy & Compliance Management
  • Develop and enforce security policies aligned with DoD and industry best practices.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with DoD STIGs, SRGs, and SCCA requirements.

Collaboration & Documentation
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of security solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of security configurations, incident reports, and compliance procedures.

Skill Requirements:
  • Network Security Expertise: Hands-on experience with F5, Palo Alto, Gigamon, and Cisco security solutions.
  • Advanced Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and network segmentation.
  • Scripting & Automation: Familiarity with Python, Ansible, or similar automation tools (preferred).
  • Security Compliance: Experience with RMF guidelines, STIGs, SRGs, and SCCA frameworks.
  • Technical Documentation: Proficiency in Visio, Microsoft Office, and industry-standard reporting tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
  • Communication: Ability to present complex technical concepts to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Must have 10 years or more experience

Certifications:
  • F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar
