Position Title: CMDB Data Scientist

Location: MacDill AFB, Fl

Security Clearance: TS with SCI Eligibility

Position Overview:

The CMDB Data Scientist will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to support IT service management processes. This position requires a deep understanding of data science principles, CMDB architecture, and ITIL practices. The ideal candidate will possess advanced analytical skills and the ability to handle complex datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and availability for informed decision-making in a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data-Familiar:
    • Leverage experience in data analytics within ITSM environments to support the transition from Remedy to ServiceNow.
    • Perform continuous data analysis to ensure data quality and integrity during and after the transition.
  2. Metrics-Focused:
    • Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to define and refine useful metrics that enhance ITSM value delivery.
    • Develop and apply advanced data models and algorithms to analyze and interpret complex datasets within the CMDB.
  3. Context-Familiar:
    • Understand and contribute to value delivery in Portfolio Management and ITIL Service Transition environments.
  4. Self-Driven:
    • Proactively drive results and solutions independently, providing leadership with insights even when specific guidance is limited.
  5. General Responsibilities:
    • Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing and validation procedures to maintain CMDB accuracy and reliability.
    • Utilize Power BI to create and manage interactive dashboards for easy stakeholder interpretation of CMDB data.
    • Ensure seamless integration of CMDB data with ServiceNow and other IT systems to enhance accessibility and operational efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain documentation related to CMDB processes and data management standards.
    • Participate in audits and reviews to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
    • Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in data science and configuration management to enhance CMDB capabilities.


Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in data science with a focus on CMDB management and IT service management processes.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL frameworks and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools, specifically Power BI.
  • Experience creating and managing Power BI dashboards for data visualization and stakeholder engagement.

  • Intimate familiarity with ServiceNow IT Operations Management (SNOW ITOM).

  • Experience with CMDB tools and platforms, including ServiceNow and BMC Remedy, with a focus on integration capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Certified Configuration Manager) are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working in a secure, classified environment.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in data management.
  • Knowledge of database management systems and SQL.
Work Environment:
  • The position may require occasional travel to support organizational initiatives and collaboration with remote teams.
  • Flexibility to work after-hours or weekends as needed to support critical operations and project deadlines.
