Primary Responsibilities:
• Researches, develops, design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
• Prepares engineering drawings or specifications to construct, relocate, or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems.
• Prepares documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
• Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met
• Produces products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means.
• Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components.
• Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems and servomechanisms.
• Includes circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid state devices, and video systems.
• Mentor newer engineers in design and development practices.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
• Experience with new architecture development
• Experience with pre-CAD circuit design, including schematic capture, power, FPGA resource utilization, background knowledge of PWB stacks ups
• Experience in industry design tools, i.e. Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, etc.
• Experience with mixed signal design. One or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs, A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
• Experience with digital hardware design. One or more of the following: Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits, FPGA/ASICs, COTS Interfaces, Subsystem Development, VME/PCI interfaces Digital Systems, System Trades, Architecture, Embedded Processing
• Familiarity with signal integrity best practices and ability to run models
• Ability to communicate with vendors requirements and specifications to facilitate the quote and design of new hardware
• The ability to train and mentor early-career engineers
• Must have a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance within the 2 years. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
• Good communication skills and the ability to tailor to audience at all levels.
