Forward Slope Inc. currently has one (1) full-time opening for a Systems Engineer III. This position is a hybrid position, located in San Diego, CA, however, this position may require periodic international travel to remote or austere locations.
Job Description:
Forward Slope is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer III to integrate C4ISR systems on mobile military platforms.
This position encompasses the entire systems engineering process from requirements definition, trade studies of COTS capabilities, electrical design (cables, power), mechanical design (brackets, mechanical assemblies), installation, test, and training. The Systems Engineer will take ownership of delivering mobile systems (trucks, trailers) with surveillance capabilities (radars, cameras) to austere environments.
Responsibilities Include:
Creating a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) based on Statements of Work (SOW) that define end user requirements. Deriving requirements that will be used to identify COTS sensors such as surface radars, EO/IR cameras, and AIS sensors
Managing and interfacing with teams of mechanical engineers and fabrication subcontractors to design brackets and mounts for sensors
Designing off-grid power solutions that integrate solar, generators, and shore power
Interfacing with DoD industry vendors to identify cutting-edge C4ISR technology
Hands-on integration of systems including installing custom brackets, sensors, Mil-Spec cables, and power systems
Delivering mobile systems to OCONUS locations, running test events with foreign military end users, and leading training events. Typically two (2) trips a year OCONUS and two (2) trips a year CONUS
Required Qualifications:
Currently hold an active U.S security clearance or be able to obtain one
Valid U.S Passport and the ability to comply with country-specific entry regulations
Systems Engineering Experience: Five (5) years
Bachelors in Engineering (BSEE or BSME) or related field
Experience integrating C4ISR systems for harsh environmental conditions (MIL-STD-810)
Ability to travel OCONUS 2-4 weeks at a time including austere locations in AFRICOM and INDOPACOM
Can problem-solve independently while working and staying accountable to team members in different time zones
High proficiency in communication skills, verbal and written
Desired Qualifications:
Experience integrating C4ISR systems on military platforms such as MRAP, Stryker, ISU containers, or custom trailers
Knowledge of Radar, SIGINT, CUAS, or EO/IR surveillance technologies
Experience using command line terminals, configuring network equipment, installing microwave radio equipment, and troubleshooting basic network issues
Experience designing complex military cable harnesses
Experience deploying or working OCONUS with foreign militaries
Salary Range:
$100,000-130,000 per year*
