Job Posting Title Project Manager III
Organization’s Summary Statement:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Project Management (ADPM) and in collaboration with the technical Principal Investigators, the Project Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the research and business services activities in the management of research projects at the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS), a Department of Defense (DoD) University-Affiliated Research Center Laboratories (UARC). The Project Operations Manager provides project management support to Principal Investigators as they execute sponsored research projects. As a Project Operations Manager, you will work with Principal Investigators, ARLIS administrative support teams, and University business partners to manage complex projects' scope, schedule, and budget. In this role, you will plan and
direct all administrative tasks to expense resources responsibly, maintain project scope and schedule, follow University and federal rules and regulations, and remove administrative burden. Additionally, this role will provide portfolio-level project management support to Mission Area Coordinators, as necessary.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary work performed in a typical office environment; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to attend meetings both on and off campus. Spending long hours in front of a computer screen.
Key Responsibilities:
• Managing federally funded, cross-functional projects, preferably with budgets over $5M, with limited guidance and supervision
• Managing federally funded projects involving multiple stakeholders
• Coordinating multiple assignments and reviewing work products for completeness, quality, and adherence to sponsor requirements
• Navigating financial systems; analyzing large data sets in MS Excel
• General knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
• Build summary reports and present briefings to senior leadership with an emphasis on translating financial and contractual concepts into plain language
Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance. If selected, you must meet the requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security clearance investigation that includes criminal and credit history checks, as well as verification of U.S. citizenship, birth, education, employment, and military history.

• Experience with project scheduling software
• Experience working in a research and/or academic environment
• Experience generating and utilizing reports in Tableau, Power BI, or other visualization software
• Active security clearance
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in project management and complexity. Three (3) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication skills, leadership abilities, Demonstrate proficiency in project planning, execution, and risk management. Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines. Proven success working with all levels of management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
