AEVEX Aerospace is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern to work in our Tactical Systems engineering department. Envision, design, and develop products and systems as an integrated member of the engineering team. You will work closely with engineering teams across AEVEX to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be part of a group of hardworking engineers whose expertise ensures the success of engineering projects and programs. You'll have the opportunity to develop and refine technical skills working alongside industry experts in aircraft design, avionics, and autonomy.

The AEVEX Internship Program gives individuals who are early in their careers the opportunity to gain valuable learning opportunities while discussing goals, evaluating performance, and receiving regular feedback. This Engineering Intern will work alongside the Tactical Systems Engineering Team through a variety of disciplines to envision, design, and develop products and systems while developing and refining their technical skills.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in designing, developing and testing electrical systems and equipment for military, industrial, commercial, and consumer use related to Unmanned Systems (UAVs, UGVs, USVs) of various types.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and clients to identify and resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
  • Assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Help to develop and implement automated programming and testing apparatuses to aid in production and quality assurance of circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • Collaborate with manager to establish internship goals and steps on achieving those goals throughout duration of the program
  • Assisting the overall project development under the supervision of a engineering group leader
  • Performing data collection and analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Knowledge of electrical design software for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium (Preferred), Eagle PCB, Autodesk Fusion360, KICAD, etc...)
  • Familiarity with electrical simulation tools such as LTspice
  • Knowledge of common industry protocols (LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB, MIPI)
  • Familiarity with embedded processors such as ARM, and basic embedded programming skills therein with C/C++
  • Test and Debug abilities with common lab equipment including DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, etc...
  • Proficient soldering skills
  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to work effectively as part of a team.

Education / Certifications
  • Recent degree or current enrollment in an engineering program in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Validated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher)

Experience
  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to sit and to reach to use computers and other office equipment.
  • Frequently required repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
