Job Description:
Parsons Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced experimental biologist with a working knowledge of radiation to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in conducting cutting-edge research, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new methodologies and applications in the field of radiation biology.
***Must be on-site at Fort Sam Houston U.S. Army post in San Antonio, Texas***
What You'll Be Doing:
• Design and conduct experiments to study the biological effects of ionizing radiation on cells, tissues, and organisms.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, utilizing advanced statistical and computational tools.
• Utilize knowledge and expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, or pharmacology for the development and evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals and new neutron capture agents for diagnosis and therapy of disease.
• Design and conduct experiments to study the biological effects of ionizing radiation on cells, tissues, and organisms.
• Lead and develop a pipeline for testing neutron capture agents, including the establishment of a new radiobiology facility or refurbishment of an existing one.
• Develop and optimize protocols for radiation exposure and biological assays.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicists, chemists, and medical professionals, to advance research projects.
• Prepare and present research findings in scientific publications, conferences, and internal meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and ethical standards in all research activities.
• Mentor and supervise junior researchers and laboratory technicians.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Master's Degree in Radiation Biology, Radiobiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• 5 years of related work experience
• Must have an active Secret clearance
• Proven experience in conducting research involving ionizing radiation.
• Experience in working with rodents, including biodistribution and imaging studies.
• Demonstrated experience in the evaluation of biological responses to various radiation sources and radiosensitizers, particularly neutron and particle radiation sources.
• Strong background in cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, radiotracer cell uptake studies, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and PCR techniques
• Strong background in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
• Postdoctoral research experience in radiation biology or a related field.
• Familiarity with radiation safety protocols and regulations.
• Experience with advanced imaging techniques and bioinformatics.
