ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Nuclear Systems Functional Area Planner to join our team in Newport News, VA.

The Nuclear Systems Functional Area Planner provides nuclear and refueling planning and support services for complex overhaul (RCOH) to the SUPSHIP Newport News RCOH Planning Team, the SUPSHIP Newport News RCOH Maintenance Planning Manager (MPM) and NAVSEA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct Availability Work Package Reviews to ensure work items are correctly prioritized, work is completely and accurately described and provide supporting rationale and documentation for modernization and repair items.
  • Coordinate with the Nuclear and Refueling Alpha Integration Manager to support the project team as required for Technical Instruction Reconciliations, Cost Model reviews, CDS Incentive Schedule development and maintenance, and various contract review and support issues.
  • Monitor shipbuilder's material procurement for the following attributes: timely ordering, material quantity validation, and budget analyses.
  • Engage in support to NAVSEA in all contract negotiations and Technical Instructions Meetings as required.
  • Assist in the review of shipbuilder provided data for periodic RCOH advanced planning technical instruction reconciliations and provide analysis and recommendations to the SUPSHIPNN Project Team, NAVSEA.
  • Interface with the project team executing the ongoing RCOH to understand waterfront decisions.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience with CVN Nuclear Systems


Preferred Qualifications
  • Former US Navy Chief Petty Officer, Chief Warrant Officer, or Limited Duty Officer


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizenship and possess an active or current Secret Security Clearance


Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
