The Public Affairs Specialist shall perform tasks such as:

Handle media requests for information, writing speeches, preparing information kits, and coordinating media interviews with subject matter experts
Maintain relationships and coordinate with civic, military, private, and partner nation media officials to effectively communicate with the press
Provide messaging training to incoming military and civilian employees and review materials developed by subordinate units
Respond to mission-driven requests within designated timelines
Represent SOCSOUTH messaging efforts at various meetings, forums, and special activities, including classified and unclassified briefings and exercises
Collaborate with IO teams to develop and implement a messaging strategy that aligns with SOCSOUTH's mission and objectives
Create and curate engaging and releasable content that resonates with target audiences and supports messaging efforts, including text and images
Utilize data and analytics to monitor the success of messaging campaigns and provide suggestions for improvement
Collaborate with social media outlets sanctioned by partner nation governments to enhance the reach and impact of messaging campaigns and help build relationships with key stakeholders
Administer and manage social media platforms, including:
Creating and scheduling posts
Responding to comments and messages
Analyzing engagement metrics and adjusting social media strategy accordingly
Developing and implementing social media campaigns to support organizational goals
Monitoring and reporting on social media trends and best practices
Publish content on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) platform, including:
Uploading and managing video, photo, and graphic content
Writing and editing captions and descriptions for DVIDS content
Utilizing DVIDS analytics to track engagement and adjust content strategy


Requirments:

· Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field

· 2+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, or a related field

· Strong knowledge of media relations, crisis communications, and messaging strategy

· Excellent writing, communication, and project management skills

· Experience with social media platforms, including content creation, engagement, and analytics

· Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

· Fluency in Spanish required.

· Ability to travel and possess a U.S. Passport for exercise support in Central and South America.
