Overview:
The primary role of the IT Assurance Specialist II involves supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs) within various Department of Defense (DoD) organizations, including the Air Force Headquarters and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. This position entails daily operations involving Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Configure and manage software settings and interfaces for assigned computer systems.
• Oversee the maintenance of file servers, firewalls, and network access, along with security monitoring systems and documentation.
• Investigate and resolve system issues to ensure optimal performance.
• Prepare systems for operational deployment and assist with testing activities.
• Develop and revise authorization packages, keeping stakeholders informed of changes impacting accreditation.
• Conduct cybersecurity self-assessments and provide technical input for all components within authorization packages.
• Identify potential vulnerabilities in systems and implement effective remediation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols concerning the operation and disposal of information systems and network devices.
• Manage Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems by administering, scheduling, and configuring as necessary.
• Offer support for external information systems and handle help desk functions for troubleshooting.
• Execute system configurations, upgrades, and software patch management.
• Manage the creation, modification, and termination of user accounts across various security boundaries.
• Support media control, accountability tasks, and management of COMSEC accounts and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2, Microsoft Exchange Server (2010/2016), and Windows 7/10 operating systems.
• Familiarity with local and wide area network technologies, along with data backup and communication security (COMSEC) practices.
• Knowledge of Risk Management Framework principles, SCI Information Systems Security Standards, and relevant system security policies in relation to assessments and authorizations.
Experience
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in related fields such as System or Network Administration, or in roles focused on IT Assurance.
• IAT Certification Required.
