ASRC Federal is seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is an on-site position.
TFDM is the surface management solution for NextGen. With growing congestion on the airport surface due to the increase in commercial air traffic nationwide, the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning on the airport ground is critical. TFDM will be:

ASRC Federal is seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is an on-site position.
TFDM is the surface management solution for NextGen. With growing congestion on the airport surface due to the increase in commercial air traffic nationwide, the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning on the airport ground is critical. TFDM will be:
- Modernizing the air traffic control tower equipment by improving the exchange of electronic flight data and implementing electronic flight strips in the tower.
- Streamlining the flow of departures on the surface to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions.
- Optimizing the experience for the flying public, Air Traffic Control, and the airline industry by improving the collaboration and decision-making capabilities between the gate and the tower.
We are looking for an experienced individual to work independently and in a team environment, in these areas:
- Provides expertise in software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems.
- Experience with software programming in the languages used for the National Airspace System (NAS) and NAS support systems. This includes languages such as C, C++, Java, HTML/XML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, JSON, SQL and Assembly.
- Provides expertise in the development and improvement of software development processes.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and Unix/Linux skills may be required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or other technical discipline with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and with twelve (12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field OR
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or other technical discipline with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and w ith nine (9) years related work experience in a computer science or math field OR
- PhD or Doctorial Degree in related field technical discipline with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
- Permanent Residency/Green Card (with 3 years working/residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.
- Knowledge/experience with:
- Java
- XML
- Shell Scripting
- JavaScript
- Database Concepts
- UNIX/LINUX
- Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
- Ability to take direction and initiative.
Preferred Skills
- Software development or test experience within the NAS, specifically on TFDM or STARS.
- Knowledge/experience with:
- Git
- Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).
- Ability to provide direction and training.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide 2 nd Level Engineering support for TFDM.
- Perform Data Collection, Software Installations, and Workstation Backups.
- Perform adaptation/software analysis and implement code fixes, adaptation changes, and new functionality.
- Perform peer reviews of documentation and code.
Work Environment
- Full-time position with a standard work schedule.
- Limited travel to locations throughout the US .
