The Army Division, Resilient C2 and Communication department is seeking a motivated data scientist looking to put their skills to use in a challenging environment that includes supporting the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) at their headquarters on Fort Huachuca, AZ. NETCOM leads global operations for the Army's portion of the Department of Defense (DOD) Information Network (DODIN), ensuring freedom of action in cyberspace while denying the same to our adversaries, and ensuring all commanders have decision advantage in support of mission command within the multi-domain environment.
MITRE provides NETCOM with unbiased systems engineering expertise and a deep understanding of the command's operational mission. MITRE brings the ability to leverage specialized knowledge spanning the DoD and beyond; this is coupled with the intellectual freedom to think broadly and provide impartial/objective solutions to NETCOM's most pressing operational and technical challenges. In the role of Data Scientist, you will be involved in advancing the Army's data-centric strategy. The strategy focuses on accelerating the transition to an organization that uses data for operational advantage and increased efficiency.
Technical work areas include fusing mathematics, applied statistics, and computer science to deliver data driven solutions. On the mathematics and statistics side, a strong understanding of probability and statistics to include the foundational mathematics under linear algebra, numerical analysis, linear regression, Monte Carlo analysis, and design of experiments is required. On the computer science side, a strong understanding of software development best practices (Agile methods and version control) and demonstrable proficiency in two or more high-level programming languages (C, Java, Python, etc.) is required. Additionally, borrowing from both sides, demonstrable proficiency in machine learning in two or more algorithms is necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work closely with military and civilian government experts from across the directorate to address their critical mission needs, identify relevant emerging technologies, and create advanced solutions to address gaps in Army data strategy
- Evaluate technologies and commercial products for potential military applicability
- Ability to develop strategic, baselined, data modeling processes; ability to accurately determine cause-and-effect relationships
- Experience with integrated development environments, data integration, data visualization, data mining, and analysis tool
- Develop briefings to convey work concepts being executed and status of efforts
- Develop technical reports to convey results of work efforts
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Knowledge of data integration tools, data modeling, and database management systems is required
- Familiarity with data mesh principles and technologies like microservices, containerization, and cloud computing
- Experience with linear algebra, numerical analysis, linear regression, Monte Carlo analysis, and design of experiments
- Experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining
- Demonstrable experience with two or more high-level languages
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience with containerization technologies
- Active Secret security clearance is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret security Clearance
- Experience analyzing structured and unstructured data sources
- Experience developing predictive data models, quantitative analyses, and visualization solutions
- Knowledge of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning
- Knowledge of text mining or machine learning techniques
