System Safety Engineer
The Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big-picture thinking to make an impact in System Safety? Our team supports senior-level DoD and Service personnel with system safety implementation and oversight for DoD system programs. You'll leverage your spe cia lized knowledge and expertise in system safety, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess system safety hazards and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk.
As a systems engineer on our team, you'll enjoy a dynamic team environment of client and contractor staff while executing comprehensive system safety programs or individual tasks on a variety of systems, including unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, surface vessel and support systems, or laser systems. You will be familiar with typical work products, including System Safety Program Plans ( SSPP ) , a variety of analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis ( PHA ) , Subsystem and System Hazard Analysis ( SHA and SSHA ) , Operating and Support Hazard Analysis ( O & SHA ) , Explosive Ordnance Disposal ( EOD ) analysis, Safety Assessment Reports ( SAR ) , and test report evaluations. You'll analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client system safety artifacts to verify compliance with requirements, policy , and guidance documents. You'll c ond uct these tasks following established plans and quality standards and the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- 1+ years of experience with Engineering, EOD and Ordnance Operations, System Test and Evaluation, Safety Programs, Directed Energy System Design, or Electromagnetic Emission Effects and Susceptibility
- Experience in the c ond uct of MIL-STD-882 safety analyses or systems safety program implementation
- Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations
- Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups
- Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with NAVSEAINST 8020.6, Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board ( WSESRB ) , or Sof tware Systems Safety Technical Review Panel ( SSSTRP )
- Experience with Digital Engineering, Machine Learning and Artifi cia l Intelligence, Sof tware Development, Solid-state Electrical Circuit Design, Unmanned Systems Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Fault Tree Analysis
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Certified Safety Professional ( CSP ) , Navy Principal for Safety ( PFS ) , or Certified Systems Engineering Professional ( CSEP ) Certification
