The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. As a Senior Cloud and Database Engineer...
- Identify critical challenges and functional solutions to advance Human-Machine Engineering prototyping
- Build out advanced infrastructure to support a long term vision of effective growth in both unclassified and classified computing environments
- Propose and contribute to research and experiments via critical areas ranging from prototyping to software application design and building to warfighter engagement
- Work across the organization to maximize efficiency and effectiveness and best technical practices
- Identify novel pathways to bring new technology into cybersecurity-constrained environments
- Create and maintain complex Linux and Windows servers to serve mission requirements
- Build, repair, and maintain computers and servers to keep them in proper working order
- Support documentation and Risk Management Framework activities
- Contribute to DevSecOps infrastructure creation and maintenance
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Have a Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or similar
- Have 8+ years experience with scripting, programming, and general software development (e.g. C++, JavaScript), Database design and management (e.g. Oracle, Postgres), and Development Operations tools (e.g. Git, Atlassian, etc.)
- Have at least 3 years of experience with building and managing both Linux and Windows systems
- Have the proven ability to work both independently and within teams to make new technologies accessible both in secure settings and facilities
- Have domain knowledge of Navy systems and threats and experience with related technology development
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Currently possess a TS/SCI clearance If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Have a passion for building team culture, driving innovation, and building/executing strategic initiatives
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
- Have significant expertise with Human-Machine Engineering in industry, DoD, or academia
- Have experience with rapid design, development, testing, and delivery of prototype systems
- Have a current CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Have a current Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ Certification
- Have experience working with computer hardware including servers
- Have experience with Docker and other containerization engines
- Have experience with Ansible or other similar IT automation software
- Have experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services
- Have experience with software repository tools such as Artifactory
