Career Transition Counselor

Cherokee Accelerated Solutions (CAS) is seeking a Career Transition Counselor to support the Human Capital Office's (HCO) career transition counseling services, the Career Transition Counselor will work on a part-time basis to ensure compliance and transparency.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Career Transition Counselor: $40 - $45 per hour

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Career Transition Counselor Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide instruction, orientation, and counseling to GAO employees on career development issues
  • Provide individual job search strategy as well as resume and cover letter review and assistance
  • Be able to develop a strong proficiency using GAO and third-party online systems and procedures to track data, respond to messages, produce, and distribute reports, monitor e-mail boxes, and respond to inquiries
  • Lead 1-2 hour training sessions to GAO staff regarding career transition, as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Career Transition Counselor Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience and substantial knowledge of transition counseling services
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for seeking professional federal employment
  • Ability to communicate with GAO employees on a one-on-one basis, helping staff identify their professional and personal strengths
  • Strong writing, proof reading, and editing skills
  • Be able to develop a strong proficiency using GAO and third-party online systems and procedures to track data, respond to messages, produce, and distribute reports, monitor e-mail boxes, and respond to inquiries
  • Proficient in developing written documents and exhibits in final form using a document management system and web-based tools and personnel-oriented databases
  • Proficient in handling multiple concurrent tasks and adjust to shifting work priorities and deadlines for activities and deliverables
  • Demonstrate outstanding level of professionalism
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, discretion, tact, and diplomacy
  • Sound business ethics including the protection of highly proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Superior Interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and cooperative attitude
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
