Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Principal Military Trainer - Workstation Controller (WSC) in support of the Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). MCTP trains Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process. The selected candidate will join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The Principal Military Trainer - WSCs serve as a U.S. Army Warfighting Function (WfF) subject matter experts on the operation, use, training, and control of the most current U.S. Army large scale combat simulation. U.S. Army Warfighting functions focus on six specific skill sets: Movement and Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, Protection, and Mission Command. Successful completion of the WSC training and certification program, required before full employment, leverages existing military experience and skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Trains and supports inexperienced military simulation operators to operate the simulation, perform simulation functions specific to the operator's military skill sets, reporting, and role-playing simulated forces subordinate to the training U.S. Army headquarters.
  • Certifies the trained military simulation operators possess the basic simulation skills and ability to role-play simulated leaders prior to exercise start.
  • Controls simulation inputs to represent accurate application of current U.S. Army, Joint, and emerging doctrine.
  • Enhances scenario realism by coaching and enforcing effective military operator role-playing of simulated military unit leaders.
  • Supervises the translation of doctrinal military tasks, commander's intent, rehearsals, operation orders, and plans into simulation inputs and scripting requirements.
  • Resolves simulation output errors (adjudication) and assists military operators with adjustments to simulated military equipment, simulated task organization changes, simulated resupply operations, simulated casualty evacuation, and simulation map locations.
  • Supports the After-Action Review (AAR) process by communicating significant events using the Workstation Reporting System (WRS)
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of current and emerging Army and Joint Maneuver doctrine for Army Brigades, Divisions, and Corps
  • Works with the MCTP Observer/Coach/Trainers (O/C/T) toward a common understanding of simulated force organization and structure
  • Performs additional duties as required:
    • Conducts exercise design and scenario development
    • Performs pre-exercise planning by conducting Site Surveys and participating in planning conferences
    • Serves as a designated Warfighting Function Subject Matter Expert for the development of the simulation Rules and Workarounds book
    • Assists with certification and training in a designated Warfighting Function
    • Maintains designated WARSIM Warfighting Function Data Base
    • Serves as a point of contact for various additional administrative duty positions

Basic Qualifications:
  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience
    • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Field Grade Officer, Warrant Officer 4/5, or CSM
  • Minimum Military Education Level (MEL) 4 CGSC/WOILE/SGM Academy or Equivalent.
  • Proficient in current U.S. Army military decision making and synchronization processes
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Familiarity with current Army and Joint Doctrine
  • Ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
  • Ability to travel worldwide as needed (up to 25% of the time) and perform duty for up to twelve hours for shifts during WFX or other exercises
  • Capable of gaining and maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a U.S. Army warfighting function specific officer career course
  • Served as a primary or key warfighting function staff member at the Battalion level or higher
  • Graduate degree
  • Brigade or higher staff officer experience
  • Prior Mission Command Training Program or similar military constructive training program experience as a military member
Salary Range: $71,600 - $107,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
