What We're Doing
Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) team at Lockheed Martin, is dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies.

The Work
The candidate will be responsible for enforcing system safety principles, reviewing engineering materials, and developing and delivering contractual work products. Other responsibilities include supporting the requirements engineers in the development of system requirements, analyzing and identifying safety critical requirements, and maintaining the requirements database to ensure safety critical requirements are appropriately maintained and applied in the baseline. Further, the safety engineer will regularly interface with development teams to review safety critical code and ensure software fulfills the intended safety requirements and design. The safety engineer will be heavily integrated in the I&T process and in the execution of Detailed Test and Analysis Procedures (DTAPS), determining the appropriate test approach and test environment to satisfy the requirements, observing runs, and reviewing objective evidence (OE) of runs completed.

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
The role will involve approximately 10% travel to customer sites throughout the U.S.

Basic Qualifications:
-An Active Final Secret Clearance
-Development of System Safety Program Plans IAW contractual requirements and applicable military standards by which program engineering implements to achieve compliance
- Experience drafting and coordinating contractual deliverables
- Development of various system safety reports and plans by which system and software analysis are documented and materials are managed (i.e., Safety Assessment Report (SAR), System Safety Risk Assessment (SSRA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard Tracking System (HTS), System Safety Management Plan (SSMP), Hazardous Materials Management Plan (HMMP)
- Experience in an environment supporting DOD contracts and Government counterparts
- Intricate knowledge of DOD or MDA system safety documents such as MDA-QS-001 Mission Assurance Provisions Rev C, MIL-STD-882E, etc.
- Ability to develop and present highly technical briefings to management, peers, and external customers
- Understanding of hardware and software verification testing at various levels of rigor and testing environments
- Experience supporting architectural reviews and ensuring requirements meet system safety architectural use cases
- Experience working closely with a requirements team to derive system requirements, analyze and identify safety critical requirements, and update and maintain the baseline using requirements databases
Desired Skills:
-Familiarity reviewing software code (i.e., Java, C++) and applying requirements to development stages

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $95,900 - $183,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
