Under the direction of the government, the AI Ethics Project Manager will assist with the organization and execution of the DoD responsible artificial intelligence program, execution of responsible AI projects and the Responsible AI Strategy and Implementation Pathway. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the client with the implementation and management of the DoD responsible artificial intelligence program
- Works with cross-discipline teams to understand privacy, legal, and ethical considerations in the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning and analytics
- Develops program metrics and performance indicators for tracking and monitoring the adoption of ethical artificial intelligence principles and socially responsible use of artificial intelligence and analytics across the Department
- Integrate responsible AI tools into Department use cases, develop performance metrics for these projects and tools, evaluate the outcomes of these projects and tools, and inform senior leaders on the results.
- Simultaneously manage and track the milestones, deadlines, and outcomes of multiple artificial intelligence ethics projects and initiatives
- Manage a host of small quick tasks/taskers for the client and ensure they are driven to completion within the required timeline
- Assist the client with the coordination and planning of in progress review meetings
- Organize the division knowledge management and documentation system to ensure effective information communication, processes, and transparency of work
- Build strategies and documentation on organizational processes for information sharing, task management, onboarding, and coordination to share across larger program
- Manage user access, role requests, and onboarding across platforms and software systems
- Perform stakeholder management and coordination to gather information, perform research and gap analyses, document challenges and opportunities, adjudicate feedback, and provide recommended courses of action, as appropriate
- Assist the client with the management and facilitation of a Flag Officer/Senior Executive Service-level governance structure, comprised of DoD boards, sub-committees, and working groups
- Prepares comprehensive responses for DoD, interagency, and/or congressional taskers
- Prepare reports, briefs, white papers, correspondences, strategic communications, etc
- Assist the client with integrating Agile project management methodologies into business space
- Execute day-to-day requirements, such as management of databases, documents, distribution of information, and document control.
- Maintain organizations charts, rosters, distribution lists
Requirements:
- 5+ years related experience
- Experience working with project management applications, like Gitlab or Jira, is preferred
- Experience working with documentation and knowledge management systems, Confluence is preferred
- Create various weekly, biweekly, and monthly reports for across the program
- Possess strong communications skills, with the ability to proactively engage members both inside and outside of your team
- Experience working on large software development programs, especially multi-organizational programs, preferred
- Demonstrated project and program management expertise in the areas of software development and deployment, large IT infrastructure projects, and user engagement strategy.
- Experience working within agile frameworks, such as Scaled Agile Framework, preferred
- Experience working within high technology areas, such as computer science, data science, autonomy, and artificial intelligence, preferred
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including the ability to monitor and track milestones, deadlines, and metrics to assess outcomes/results
- Experience developing Executive level talking points, speeches, and briefs
- Experience running program management reviews or a periodic program review preferably within the Department of Defense
- Project Management Professional or other relevant certification
- Proven success with Agile transformation within an organization
- Experience with Agile frameworks including Scrum and Kanban methodologies
- Competency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) or similar
- Exceptional MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint application skills
Highly Desired:
- Agile certification(s) including Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), and/or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
- Experience working within or directly with USG, DoD organizations, or OSD organizations, preferred, in order of increasing preference
- Prior Federal government, professional services, or Federal consulting experience
- Experience with the Department of Defense's Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution process, especially budgeting to include POM reviews
- Experience with the Department of Defense's acquisition system to include Federal Acquisition Regulations and Other Transactional Authorities
- Experience with the DoD Tasker Management System (CATMS)
- Experience supporting an Office of the Secretary of Defense organization or serving as an executive officer to a Military Flag Officer or member of the Senior Executive Service
- Thorough knowledge of the OSD organizational structure and protocol
- Experience working at the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) or Office of the Chief Digital and AI Officer (CDAO)
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills for interfacing with Flag Officers and Senior Executives across and organization (including, but not limited to, the ability to influence without positional power, establish and maintain strong networks and relationships, interact with all organizational levels with credibility, and manage conflict with key stakeholders that results in desired outcomes)
- Knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence ethics, algorithms, and tools
- Maintains cognizance of trends, advancements, and best practices in artificial intelligence specific to ethics, privacy, fairness, and social responsibility
- Knowledge of responsible artificial intelligence/ artificial intelligence ethics concepts, principles, and practices
- Knowledge and experience applying a principle-driven decision framework to evaluate the ethical use of analytics and artificial intelligence
- Experience managing and facilitating robust governance structures and forums for Flag Officers and Senior Executives from across an organization
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree
Security Pre-Requisite:
- To be considered, must have a CURRENT/ACTIVE SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain one, and be eligible to be upgraded to a TOP SECRET/SCI.
