Veterinary Technician (Levels 1-3)

Summary:

The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in providing medical and surgical care for research animals.

Schedule: Primarily 0700-1530, with flexibility for research requirements and emergency care.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist with animal procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Ensure compliance with laboratory animal care standards

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Animal handling, surgical assistance, anesthetic monitoring, medication administration, medical record keeping

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or related field
• At least 1-5 years of experience (varies by level)
• Must meet all requirements for CS-PRP and BPRP to access ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 containment areas. T3 investigation (NACLC/ANACI is acceptable if completed within 5 years prior to enrollment). A favorably adjudicated SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified, is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years in laboratory animal care experience
• AALAS certifications preferred

The hourly range for this position is $14.00-$26.00.
