Summary:

The Animal Caretaker provides daily husbandry, feeding, and monitoring of laboratory animals.

Schedule: Primarily 0700-1530, with weekend and holiday rotations.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide routine care, feeding, and monitoring of laboratory animals
• Maintain clean and enriched living environments
• Observe and report signs of illness or distress in animals

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Animal husbandry, sanitation procedures, animal behavior monitoring, cage cleaning, data recording

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• AALAS ALAT certification is required within 12-18 months of hire
• At least 1-3 years of experience in animal care
• Must meet all requirements for CS-PRP and BPRP to access ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 containment areas. T3 investigation (NACLC/ANACI is acceptable if completed within 5 years prior to enrollment). A favorably adjudicated SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified, is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years in laboratory animal research experience

The hourly range for this position is $17 - $21.
