Transport/IP Network Controller

Job Description:
We are seeking a Transport/IP Network Controller to join our team at Hill Air Force Base. This role involves supporting the monitoring and troubleshooting of a global network using advanced networking technologies and tools. The ideal candidate will have experience with alarm surveillance, LAN maintenance, performance management, and network devices such as routers, switches, and crypto devices.

Job Responsibilities:

• Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
  
  • Utilize network monitoring tools to track and resolve issues on a live, global network.
  • Troubleshoot circuits using router commands, loops, alarms, and errors.
  • Resolve monitoring errors through research, documentation, and troubleshooting technologies.
  • Escalate network issues to higher-level support when necessary.
• Ticket Management:
  
  • Create and update tickets in Remedy for network incidents and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of issues, resolutions, and network configurations.
• Network Maintenance:
  
  • Perform LAN maintenance and support network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and cryptographic devices.
  • Provide support for network technologies such as DSN/DRSN, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching, and more.
• System Analysis & Performance Management:
  
  • Conduct performance and fault management on network equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensure optimal operation of all transport and IP network systems.

Essential Requirements:

• Education & Experience:
  
  • High school diploma required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in network support or a related role.
• Certifications:
  
  • Must have DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).
• Skills & Knowledge:
  
  • General understanding of network topologies, including transport and IP networks.
  • Familiarity with routers, switches, crypto devices, and associated technologies.
  • Experience with LAN maintenance, alarm surveillance, and performance management.
• Other Requirements:
  
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
