Amentum is seeking a Facilities Mechanic to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Facilities Mechanic will accomplish remodeling and repairing facilities, maintaining and repairing small motors, LP Gas and electrical appliances, to include establishing preventive maintenance programs. The Facilities Mechanic will have proficiency in various trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing and masonry.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Perform such tasks as: repairing windowpanes and sash cords. repair or replace water faucets, repair toilet flushing devices, clear clogged drains, tighten leaky pipe joints, replace electric lights, fuses and minor fixture repair, lay various types of flooring, hang and repair venetian blinds, install window screening, repair or replace broken wood work, drywall insulation and repair, concrete installation and repair, install and adjust new doors, install, adjust and replace panic hardware and locking devices, and make minor repairs to furniture.
- Accomplish structural and other real property maintenance, upkeep, and repairs by applying accepted trade techniques, practices, and work procedures, with a minimum of supervisory guidance.
- Handle usual maintenance service calls without prior instruction from supervisor. Follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials.
- Connect appliances, repair and adjust household type heaters, furnaces, water heaters, and coolers,
- Make minor repairs to gas or electric ranges, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, and radiators. Clean, oil, and perform operating maintenance on small motors, fans, blowers, pumps, and similar items, including garbage disposals.
- Perform outside repair, i.e. secure loose shingles and siding, patch roof leaks, and repair or replace steps, porch floors, and guard rails. Install and repair trash or garbage units and shelters.
- Repair lawn mowers, gardening equipment, and household tools.
- Install, maintain, and repair a variety of small domestic type gas and oil heating units and systems. Perform preventive maintenance on all LP gas heating units; change air filters, clean and oil electric motors, circulating fans, and squirrel cages.
- Troubleshoot to determine type and extent of necessary repairs.
- Trace malfunctions and replace fixtures such as safety devices, thermostats and heating elements.
- Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
- Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work.
- Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma/equivalent.
- Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
- One (1) year experience in remodeling and repairing structures, maintaining and repairing small motors, LP Gas and electrical appliances, equipment and components is desirable.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Amentum's Master Training Plan.
- Good writing and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
- Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.
- Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
- Have a thorough understanding of equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
- Be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.
- Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
