Job Description
We are looking for a Counterintelligence Officer to provide counterintelligence support services to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in Menlo Park, CA as part of the Lawrence Livermore Field Office's (LLFO) area of responsibility. This support includes performing comprehensive research and analysis, conducting interviews, and presenting recommendations to senior management, high-level DOE personnel, and officials of intelligence agencies on relevant Counterintelligence (CI) issues, ensuring compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) Order 475.1 (CI Program). Following an onboarding and training period at the LLFO Program Office at LLNL in Livermore, CA, the primary assignment location for this position will be at SLAC. In addition, weekly visits to the LLFO Program Office at LLNL will be required.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one day per week.

You will
- Conduct comprehensive complex, diverse, and multi-faceted CI/counterterrorism (CT) investigations.
- Collect and review information from a variety of open and secure sources to assess and mitigate any CI/CT threats associated with foreign visits, travel, and contacts.
- Produce detailed and accurate intelligence reports/records in appropriate intelligence databases, and investigative case files.
- Conduct and present face-to-face briefings/debriefings and presentations to SLAC personnel regarding hosting foreign nationals, foreign travel, and specific CI/CT risks/threats.
- Coordinate joint task forces and collaborations with internal SLAC divisions, DOE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE IN), CI programs at other national laboratories, the United States Intelligence Community (USIC), and local law enforcement to address CI/CT issues.
- Address novel CI/CT issues with little known precedence and prepare succinct recommendations for LLNL senior management on appropriate courses of action; develop innovative solutions to often unusually complex problems.
- Provide guidance and direction to other program team members, plan and lead collaborative projects/investigations with peers and within the Laboratory, DOE IN, and the USIC.
- Support all elements of the CI outreach program, including refining, developing, and presenting CI awareness and training material to all employees/members of the workforce.
- Enter, retrieve, and manipulate information within SLAC systems and DOE IN-20 CI analytical and investigative databases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience employing investigative procedures and techniques, including researching, interviewing, and documentation specifically concerning complex CI investigations.
- Significant experience identifying foreign government missions, functions and collection processes, as well as U.S. methods of intelligence collection and dissemination.
- Significant knowledge and experience working on national security issues related to the USIC.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with, classified and unclassified databases, software applications, and other intelligence research tools to identify and assess foreign capabilities using the conventional intelligence disciplines.
- Significant specialized training, and/or subject matter expertise such as: espionage, interviewing, counterproliferation, weapons systems and/or foreign intelligence services.
- Working knowledge of automated business tools/technologies and specialized applications; expert knowledge of MS Office applications; and familiarity with the basic principles of hardware, software, and network systems.
- Experience interpreting and applying knowledge of governmental policies, procedures, orders, and regulations.
