ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential job functions may also include direct mission support, controlling range test areas and/or repairs to towers, involving replacement of cross-members, bolts, and other tower hardware. The position may require the ability to climb towers up to 300 feet in height. Job functions may also involve working in extreme weather conditions or at heights for extended periods. May be required to work in direct contact with test personnel. May be required to operate industrial support equipment such as forklifts, aircraft tugs, street sweepers and other small equipment. Senior General Maintenance Workers perform with minimum supervision as part of a maintenance crew. They may be required to be familiar with the use and maintenance of personal safety climbing accessories. Structures may not be equipped with climbing cages, but all will be equipped with safety devices for ascending and descending towers. Other functions include planning, estimates and providing guidance or instructions to less skilled personnel.

GENERAL DUTIES:
  • The General Maintenance Worker, Senior performs maintenance and repair of equipment, grounds, exterior structures, buildings, towers, antenna/microwave dishes, fixtures and utilities requiring skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, air conditioning, cement work, painting, small engine repair, tower maintenance and other related trades.
  • Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Work varies in the combination of trade practices that are performed in different work situations throughout the E-OMS contract.
  • Despite the variety of combinations, the two main elements of the job are constant. The work requires the application of more than one trade practice and the highest level of work is performed in at least two of the trades involved.
  • Typical work assignments include the performance of visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, repair work on a level of difficulty and responsibility of trades such as those described in job descriptions for Master Electrician, Master HVAC Mechanic, and Master Carpenter.
  • P erforms functions related to the operation and maintenance of the IBDSS program.
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication and installation work requiring construction skills (e.g., mechanical, carpentry, and operating heavy equipment) for the installation or reconfiguration of both interior and exterior security systems, security fence, video surveillance systems, and lighting systems.
  • Must be able to provide a quick-reaction on-site capability to: fabricate or modify test items or intrusion aids.
  • Must be proficient in PIMS to reference vehicle documentation when needed and possess a good understanding of the Maintenance module documentation process.
  • Will be required to create and maintain positive relationships with many industry contacts that are crucial for IBDSS operations.
  • Actively participates as a project manager, coordinating with vendors and sub-contractors while working directly with Test Wing, supervisor, and co-workers.
  • Required to provide labor and material requirements for on-site Test Wing cost estimates.
  • Required to attend project planning and status update meetings and provide input to supervisor and Government range engineer.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the IBDSS Siting Criteria regulations ESE-SIT-0001 and be able to assist in updating these requirements.
Job Requirements

OTHER DUTIES : May be required to handle hazardous materials and/or collect hazardous waste. May be required to perform aircraft and/or equipment fueling operations. May require housekeeping duties in assigned work areas and other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Formal training, acquired through vocational certification or military service school training or a certified apprenticeship program, in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting, and 5 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades mentioned above, of which 3 years has been on the E-OMS contract or, 10 years' experience in at least two of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting, and 3 years of E-OMS range experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Tower climbing experience may be required and if so, incumbents will be required to attend climbing school for certification and attend periodic training courses to remain certified. A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a flight line driving test may be required. Respirator qualifications are required in some areas. May be required to possess or obtain a Class "A" CDL license. This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Will be required to work outside in hot and cold weather.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Requires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions. The ability to work at heights may be required.
