Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Modeling Simulation Systems Engineer. In the Mission Systems' sector, you'll join our experts in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe. The qualified applicant will work in our Buffalo, New York office, where we focus on the development and production of state-of-the-art EW Simulation Systems solutions.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Modeling Simulation Engineer provides mission-critical threat radar system modeling to end-users, ensuring Simulation Systems are being utilized successfully with a high level of fidelity. This involves detailed signal and system intelligence analysis, research, modeling, simulation, and verification to ensure realistic threat radar models are created to satisfy the mission requirements of the end user.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with internal management, as well as existing and new customers; and will work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities. The candidate must be able to self-manage the completion of tasks and work within defined budgets.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform verification at customer locations, perform digital and analog signal analysis, and incorporate threat models into the customer prime mission equipment
  • Perform end-user training, traveling world-wide to customer locations to provide training for 1-2 weeks in duration. The training is given to technical audiences of 4-30+ people, involving a high level of customer interaction, question-and-answer sessions, and acceptance testing.
  • Support user conferences and business development activities to discuss the latest trends in threat radar systems and demonstrate the latest technology of the company's product line.
  • Develop new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
  • Simulate real-time operations and develop software that simulates behavior of systems.
  • Develop, integrate, and uses advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools. Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures. Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; 0 Years with Masters. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience performing SIGINT/ELINT intelligence analysis or simulation of threat radar systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of radar signal characteristics.
  • Experience with digital signal analysis tools and RF test equipment to verify signal characteristics.
  • Indepth knowledge of Next-Generation Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming (EWIR) System and Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming Database (EWIRDB).
  • Experience teaching technical end users on prime mission equipment operation.
  • Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions.
  • Required to travel to domestic and foreign locations up to 25% based upon need.
  • Must have U.S. citizenship and active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain special access program clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in processing, analysis and reporting of TechELINT parametric information, experience in discovery and documentation of new operating modes utilizing analysis tools and parametric databases i.e., ASPEN, WILLOW, CED, and EWIRDB.
  • Knowledge with LINUX based data processing servers and associated systems.
  • Active Top Secret and SCI Clearances.
Salary Range: $81,300 - $121,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
