Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, Global Battle Management Readiness Division is seeking an Operating Unit Director (Director Programs 2) to lead and manage our IBCS OU (Integrate Air & Missile Defense Battle Command System Operating Unit). IBCS and it's international instantiations are large, complex agile software and hardware development and production programs based in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will be an experienced program management professional with competencies and capabilities in managing cost, schedule and technical performance on large, complex production and software development programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provides program execution and profit and loss management with responsibility for development, test, delivery, fielding, sustainment, and customer satisfaction.
  • In support of Northrop Grumman programs, interfaces, and represents Northrop Grumman with senior military and government officials and with industry both in the U.S. and globally.
  • Duties include key elements of program and project management, strategy and business development, customer engagement, financial management oversight and organizational/people management.
  • Provide direct leadership to program managers, proactively strengthening the operating unit through program management standards, business systems and tools. Responsible for oversight of program financial and schedule commitments, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Accountable for all Business Program & Financial Commitments (Awards, Sales, Profit and Cash).
  • Maintain current and actionable market-customer-pursuit intelligence that supports the business unit objectives.
  • Manage operating unit priorities aligned with the strategy and prioritizing resource needs.
  • Serve as a tiered escalation level for program, customer, and operational issues across the OU.
  • Partner with functional leadership to deploy qualified resources and improve processes, tools and training to meet customer demands. Evaluate and implement program best practices.
  • Provides day-to-day people leadership of a diverse team and creates an environment that accelerates development of talent and drives continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, plus minimum of 15 years of management experience inclusive of program cost, schedule, and technical management
  • Production management, logistics, and sustainment experience on a large-scale Department of Defense production program
  • Applied knowledge, background and experience in business and contracts management, Earned Value, risk and opportunity management, supply chain, and mission assurance
  • Agile hardware/software development, delivery, and sustainment management experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with senior Government and military officials and senior executives within industry and corporately
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, complex businesses and organizations
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to make and manage change decisions that impact the organization's structure, processes, operations, and services.
  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS/MBA or bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • Agile development, delivery, and sustainment management experience
  • International business management experience with knowledge of Foreign Military Sales
  • Knowledge in air and missile defense and command and control capabilities
  • Experience in a Product Line structure
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
Salary Range: $246,800 - $370,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
