The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.

The Spa c e Control and Awareness Department (SCAD) is seeking a new team member to support situational awareness for defense, intelligence, and civil government customers for the Aerospace Corporation . SCAD performs concept development, systems engineering, architecture analysis, algorithm development and evaluation support for national security space customers emphasizing Orbit Determination, Radar, Electro-Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensors, command and control, missile warning/missile tracking (MW/MT) missions, electronic warfare (EW), space domain awareness (SDA), and space protection and security.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, w hich requires 100% onsite support.

What You'll Be Doing

As a member of the Space Control Awareness Department , you will be providing direct onsite customer support in the analysis and modeling the space situational awareness sensors , data analysis, and data fusion required to tra ck and dependably characterize the orbits of satellites .

In this role, you will:

  • Independently provide deep technical expertise , innovation, and analysis for technical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments in direct support of customer needs in collaboration with teams of multi-disciplinary technical leaders across the company .


  • Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate analysis results and provide recommended solutions to technical leads, management, and customers .


  • O ccasional domestic t ravel as necessary to support customer efforts


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Member of Technical Staff:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, science, or related technical discipline from an accredited school


  • Over one year of professional postgraduate experience


  • Demonstrated responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, to include:


  • Self-management of multiple tasks, deadlines, and deliverables


  • Ability to take direction, work independently, and develop productive working relationships .


  • Aptitude with astrodynamics and related mathematics


  • Skills in mathematical formulation and derivation


  • Aptitude in the modeling of space situational awareness sensor systems and/or orbit determination


  • Demonstrated skills in the development and use of computer software tools.


  • Current and active Top-Secret Clearance (TS) with SCI access


Additional Minimum Requirements for Senior Member of Technical Staff:

  • At least 5 years of professional postgraduate experience


  • Demonstrated progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, to include


  • Working knowledge of Aerospace customers and industry players


  • History of timely and impactful delivery of technical support in a business setting


  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in development and analysis supporting the modeling of space situational awareness sensor systems and/or orbit determination


  • Demonstrated skills in the development and use of computer software tools


  • Current and active Top-Secret Clearance (TS) with SCI access

  • Advanced degree in engineering, math, science or related technical discipline from an accredited school


  • Experience with Python, C, and/or Fortran
  • Extensive experience directly interacting with Gov't customers


  • Contribution to substantial technical analytical or development projects through their successful fruition


  • Extensive experience in primary department areas of support


  • Extensive experience with a diverse set of Aerospace customers


  • Current Special Access Program clearances
