Overview
The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies.
Responsibilities
• Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards.
• Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies.
• Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors.
• Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies.
• Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs.
• Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices.
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards.

Qualifications
Education:
• Minimum of high school degree and four years of related experience or two years technology degree and two years of related experience.
Certifications:

Abilities:
- Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
- Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
- Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
- Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
