GRADE: Exempt; Regular, Full-Time
LOCATION: Eglin Air Force Base, FL
REPORTS TO: Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential job functions include Identify and convert source data to multi-spectral synthetic target databases for subsequent rendering. Create, modify and delete targets and backgrounds for specific imaging systems. Model environmental phenomenology for realistic presentation of adverse weather conditions. Incorporate realistic countermeasure models for presentation to guided weapons systems. Develop and maintain databases and target models to be used in HITL simulations of imaging systems. Must be proficient in SPIRITS, CHAMP, RTC3, FLITES v2, and MODTRAN to develop, modify, verify and validate IR signature predictions codes. Must be proficient in FORTRAN, MATLAB/Simulink, C, and C++ to develop and modify software written in FORTRAN, MATLAB, C and C++. Must be proficient with FLUENT software and have a working knowledge with Craft 3D CFD to support development and incorporation of 3-D engine plume models based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) into real-time rendering software suitable for use in the GWEF HITL.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are normally performed in an office environment with some duties performed outside in the field.

GENERAL DUTIES :
- Provide senior level expertise to resolve moderately to very challenging problems in the area of responsibility.
- Work independently in nearly all cases with rare need to consult with principal level expertise on problems of exceptional difficulty.
- Provide support to design and develop multispectral synthetic target, backgrounds, and environments for real-time scene rendering.
- Multispectral environments include EO, IR, UV, RF and MMW.
- Provide imaging and HITL subject matter expertise to facility engineers and provide technical advice on complex modeling issues.
- Identify and convert source data to multi-spectral synthetic target databases for subsequent rendering.
- Must be proficient in FLITES v2 and MODTRAN to develop, modify, verify and validate IR signature predictions codes.
- Design, modify, implement, operate, validate and interface computer-generated image rendering systems and software.
- These images are produced by PC-based image generation systems and transmitted through the resistor array system controllers to the resistor array scene projectors for real-time HITL simulations.
- Create, modify and delete targets and backgrounds for specific imaging systems.
- Model environmental phenomenology for realistic presentation of adverse weather conditions.
- Incorporate realistic countermeasure models for presentation to guided weapons systems.
- Develop and maintain databases and target models to be used in HITL simulations of imaging systems.
- Integrate simulation software and hardware components to form a working simulation, as well as troubleshoot and repair existing simulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Either a minimum of a MS from an accredited school in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of ten years of senior level experience in development of real-time synthetic target models for use in the HITL simulations for guided munition and IRCM systems.
- Or BS from an accredited school in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of thirteen years of senior level experience in development of HITL simulations for guided munition and IRCM systems.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of HITL simulator design and extensive hands-on experience applying that knowledge utilizing the GWEFRTS framework.
- Must be proficient in FLITES API code development.
- Must have a minimum of five years' experience in PC-based image generation systems that interface with resistor array system controllers for the purpose of resistor array scene projection for real-time HITL simulations.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of HITL simulation design and experience applying that knowledge utilizing the GWEFRTS framework.
